Sustainable break

In the picture the welcoming activity for students and parents of the first year after a week of school in September. It was a break organised in the garden of the school, in order to make students aware of the importance of their choice even for food.
They had free water and fruit juice, seasonal and local fruit and vegetables issued from organic farming, many fair trade and mafia-free products.

B.B.A.COMENIUS MEETING -Padova 30-09-14 / 03-10-14

L’IISS Enrico de Nicola ha partecipato al convegno tenutosi all’IT. Marconi di Padova, partner di progetto, per l’organizzazione del secondo anno del Progetto Europeo Comenius “Beware-Be aware!” (acronimo B.B.A.) approvato dall’Agenzia Nazionale e di cui usufruiscono gli studenti del biennio dell’I.I.S.S. Enrico de Nicola di Piove di Sacco. Erano presenti circa 30 insegnanti in rappresentanza di 10 paesi d’Europa. Tale progetto tratta temi specifici relativi alla sicurezza degli student. Durante il primo anno è stato affrontato il problema dell’ inquinamento acustico e l’ ergonomia – vedi blog : http://denicolacomenius.blogspot.it/

Durante l’anno scolastico in corso, gli studenti lavoreranno sulle etichette alimentari e sulla pubblicità ingannevole, collegandosi attraverso concorsi all’Expo 2015. Il progetto vedrà in movimento nell’Istituto più di 100 persone.Un gruppo di studenti del De Nicola ospiterà compagni europei provenienti da Olanda, Spagna,Germania e un altro gruppo partirà per le stesse destinazioni. Una folta equipe di docenti ,coordinati dalle prof. Raimondi e Sanavia, lavorerà insieme per accogliere studenti e insegnanti europei durante una settimana di attività che si svolgerà dal 6 al 14 marzo 2015. All’apertura del meeting patavino ha partecipato anche la preside del De Nicola, prof. Silvia Polato .La lingua del progetto è l’inglese ma gli studenti si eserciteranno nella comunicazione con tutte le lingue che imparano a scuola.Durante tale meeting l’equipe europea ha lavorato pure per la presentazione di una nuova candidatura della durata di tre anni secondo il nuovo programma Europeo Erasmus+ . Infine a sottolineare la vivacità progettuale e formativa dell’Istituto de Nicola, la visita di una delegazione Olandese di Aalten alla sez. Agraria del IISS E.de Nicola ha favorito gli accordi per uno stage lavorativo in serra o in fattoria tra gli studenti dell’Agrario e la scuola Olandese, il Chr. College Schaersvoorde avente lo stesso indirizzo scolastico.

Comenius project on local newspaper

We are all celebrities as the local newspapaer "Il Mattino" issued an article on our project. Bravo to the "De Nicola"! And of course to all the people who worked hard on the project...

Visitors from Holland

On the first week of June a group of Dutch students visited us in Piove di Sacco. We had a lot of wonderful activities, explored the region, learnt many things and also had so much fun.
Here is the group and ... see how nice are the teachers as well!

We also had an exciting boat trip on the biggest italian river: the Po.

Visit to Belgium

. . . Unforgettable!!!

Our European week in Brugge was really UNFORGETTABLE!

I can't think about any other adjective to sum up better our experience in Belgium.

Together with students  from Germany, France, Poland and Hungary

we were involved in lots of exciting, amusing and educational activities.

We:

•      experienced the magic of the Middle Ages in the Historium and in the Groeninge museums
•       had fun in the Theatre Workshop
•      spent an enjoyable afternoon discovering the city centre
•      listened to a very interesting explanation about Medieval books in the public library and tried Medieval handwriting
•       visited the Concertgebouw (Concert Hall)
•      enjoyed the chocolate workshop
•      tested our ability in the adventure trail
•      participated with enthusiasm in the sports day and enjoyed the barbecue
•      swam, played and relaxed in Aqua Fun
•      did fencing and waved flags
•      performed music with the European students' percussion band  in front of the City Hall
• ..  and had lots of other experiences

Italian students really enjoyed their stay and they found a lot of new friends.

We shared fun and laughs  but also tears at the end of our week.

We wish we were still there!

The diary of the trip was the following :

Friday May 2, 2014 : Arrival in Hondschoote at 11.00 in the evening after a trip to Italy with a stop in Ostenburken (Germany). The students have complained , as expected, a bit 'tired but overcome by enthusiasm for the start of the adventure. The boys were taken and placed in host families ;

Saturday, May 3, 2014 : The students spent the day with their families who have taken steps to organize excursions and / or activities. Carers have visited the city of Dunkerque ;

Sunday, May 4, 2014 : The students spent the day with their families who have taken steps to organize excursions and / or activities. Carers have visited the city of Ypres and the marine area of La Panne in Belgium;

Monday, May 5, 2014 : The group reached the town of Bergues , where he was visiting the Bell Tower from which you can admire the view of the surrounding countryside . The host school has provided a limited budget of money whose purpose was to provide for the purchase , in the market town of products that would be needed for the picnic which was held in the town of Cassel , where in the afternoon you visited the Museum of works of Art .

Tuesday, May 6, 2014 : The group reached the nearby Great Britain via the Channel Tunnel which celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the inauguration . The experience was certainly seen as an opportunity not to be overlooked . The trip continued with a visit to the city of Canterbury with its famous Cathedral where Italian students have followed closely, including through targeted questions , the explanation , in English, by the tour guide. In the afternoon, the group has moved into the village typically English style of Rye.

Wednesday, May 7, 2014 : The group has found a school where the questionnaires were administered by the French school on the theme of the project; after the students have learned , followed by four teachers, group dances with music by local folk . In the afternoon, the group visited the marina area of La Panne in Belgium where, despite a strong wind , have characterized the excursion with the theme of happiness . The evening was dedicated to students with music and dance groups.

Thursday, May 8, 2014 : In view of the national holiday in France to the armistice , the group has participated in the parade through the streets of the country and has witnessed the greeting from the mayor of the city which he praised the activities of the project. Subsequently the results of the analysis on the topic of the project have been brought to the knowledge of the other partners and host families with great success . The afternoon was spent in the families and carers have visited the city of Brugge ( Belgium)

Friday, May 9, 2014 : the tour was planned as the theme of Europe. The group reached the city of Brussels, where in the morning visited the interesting theme park Mini Europe with a local guide . In the afternoon, the group reached the center of Brussels where, after a visit to the city , he had free time for shopping .

Saturday, May 10, 2014 : The group started from France, reached into the night , according to the roadmap , raining Sacco at 23.30 . The departure from France was the case with a little ' of sadness.

The students appreciated the opportunity that was given to them, they were able to weave friendships that hopefully can be maintained in the future despite the distance ; certainly have understood the advantages such as greater familiarity with the language and a pleasant rely on their ability to adapt to life away from their families of origin.

A message from Spain

Here is a message we received from one of the teachers who came to Piove for the exchange:

"Our students were very happy to meet their families, despite they were saying all the time they wanted to stay longer, they want to go back… It has been a very good experience. I really enjoyed it myself. I thank you all of you, including those who are not in my list of email addresses, teachers and the rest of the staff, including the teachers and other people from Padova; ............. I thank you for your work and for your hospitality; the human experience has been, from my point of view, the highlight of this project."

It's a pleasure and an honour to receive messages like this, indeed.

Friday: the last day!!!

The week together is coming to an end. The polish friends already left in the morning. The rest of the group meets the Mayor at the Council Room of the Town Hall in Piove di Sacco:

At this point we deserve a trip to the beach of Sottomarina: the weather is perfect for a nice swim in the sea!

In the evening tears and sadness: the bus with our belgian friends leaves at 23:30...we try to hide in the luggage compartment...as we would like to leave with them and spend more and more time together!!!

Party on Thursday afternoon

After a good barbecue all together for lunch in the afternoon we were in the main square of Piove for chalk graffiti drawing. We could also admire the Piazza from the top of the clocktower.

At 17:30 we all gathered in the school "Aula Magna" for presenting our week to the families and party all together. See our yummy amazing cake!

We were all very excited for the week together and gave each other many hugs... The school music band has been playing some songs, in italian and in english. Here below is the group.

Labs on Thursday morning

On Thursday morning we were split in groups and participated to different labs:

• media group on computers
• mime
• cartoons
• music
• construction of musical instruments
• ergonomy

Wednesday in Padova

We did so many things in Padova: one group went to the Magarotto Institute, learned the language of signs and climbed trees! Another group visited the city music Conservatory, watched a contemporary music performance and met some musicians. In the afternoon the two roups joined to visit some monuments, in particular we admired Giotto's frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel. Some of us also visited Padua University and the exhibition "Sperimentando". A long and fruitful day...

Tuesday in Venice

After a trip to the island of Murano the group reached Piazza San Marco. Beautiful picture, isn't it?

Monday afternoon: swimming pool

What a gorgeous afternoon splashing in the swimming pools of Montegrotto Terme.

Monday morning welcome

The school Headmistress and local authorities welcome the guests coming from Belgium, Poland and Spain. The students are very excited and also very good in presenting their schools.

Picnic on Sunday

All the students of the schools "Marconi" and "De Nicola" with their families, their guests and the teachers had a wonderful picnic in a fantastic venue on the Euganean Hills on Sunday: just for a good start they had a lot of sun, games and fun!!!

Musical activity

We would be delighted to have european students coming to Piove Di Sacco involved in a musical activity. The school music group will be peroforming some songs on 8th of May afternoon party and everybody is welcome to join in performing two songs: Amazing Grace and Kumabaya.

Parents meeting

On April 9th parents and school staff had a coordination meeting. Everybody is getting ready for the exchange. See pictures below.

Countdown begins!!!

In one month our fellow students from other European countries will be here and we are looking forward to meet them!
